Starting in 2005, the Debussy Edition for ONYX gathered impressive reviews from critics, reaching its completion in 2011 with the release of Volume 5. In this last disc Pascal is joined by his wife Ami for a selection of music for two pianos and piano four-hands. Never intended to be an exhaustive survey of Debussy’s music for piano, these recordings contain the masterpieces, some delightful shorter works and some of the lesser-known compositions.
Chopin, exiled from Poland, spent most of his life in Paris, where his piano writing proved a profound influence on the next generations of French composers. Pascal Rogé, one of today’s best-loved French pianists, links the worlds of Chopin, Debussy, Fauré, Ravel and Poulenc in an original and enchanting programme. 'Rogé still plays with that clarity of texture and sense of momentum within stasis that Debussy surely intended' (The Times).
In the Shinto Temple of Akama Jingu in Shimonoseki...a traditional ceremony to celebrate the wedding of Pascal & Ami...close family and special friends joined us for a beautiful and simple celebration...there was music and dance...we drank sake and clapped our hands to wake up the Gods and remind them to bring us their blessings...
